I wish I could tell you comparison is an old friend I no longer speak to. I wish I could tell you as you age and continue to grow, comparison dies. But comparison is like an acquaintance you see everywhere you go. You have no interest in developing a relationship further, yet they are always there. Always smiling…sometimes waving. You see them so often, you start to question whether or not it’s worth developing a relationship.

They’re not so bad, you tell yourself.

And maybe the acquaintance you keep running into isn’t so bad. Maybe it’s your best friend waiting to be discovered.

I can promise you, comparison is the exact opposite. It’s the backstabbing friend you thought was your best friend. You keep running into it because it’s following you.

Comparison is masked by different people, places, situations, and events, and its favorite adventure is to stop the show and steal the spotlight.

Can I tell you a story?
