Earlier this week I reserved my spot in a hot pilates class. If that sounds intense it’s because it is. But I was in the mood to push myself and get a good workout in — at least in the morning.

Then, the evening rolled around and all I really wanted to do was be out in the garden. I had a nonstop day of running errands, going to appointments, and substitute teaching hard-to-handle 5th and 6th graders.

I had already exercised both my mind and body and was after something a little quieter; a little more peaceful. Plus, I was just given a bunch of vegetable starts I was excited to make room for and put in the ground.

So, I got home, ate a bowl of cereal while I canceled my pilates reservation, and headed out to the garden.

An almost perfect evening

Oh my, it was so nice. The sun was wrapping up the day in a pretty bow. I felt the warmth on my back and took a deep breath. Our husky, Kiki, was soaking up the sun. I put my headphones in and started my Discover Weekly playlist on Spotify.

And if it weren’t for getting interrupted by the friendly neighbor boy, I might have even called this evening perfect.
