At this point in my life it’s not a question of, Do you believe in God? Rather, it’s a question of, How do you experience God and use those experiences to become a better person?

At 21 years old, I started writing a memoir. At 24 years old, I had it published. Now, I’m 25 and certain messaging in the book no longer resonates…specifically, messaging regarding spirituality and how I view God.

I should have known this was bound to happen. I remember someone warning me once that the risk you take in writing a memoir at a young age is having a new perspective on certain ideas after living and experiencing more of life.

Knowing this, I continued to press on and tell my story…and I’m glad I did. Good Enough has helped people across the world up against eating disorders or other mental health hurdles — but most of all — it helped me; It helped me heal and understand myself better.

Nevertheless, I’ve found it difficult to promote and share my book since having some of my beliefs refined. My memoir is heavily saturated with theology and the truth is, I don’t want to be misunderstood for experiencing God in the same ways I used to; I don’t want to push people away with more…
