I know you already know I can relate to this story Ellen, but sigh. I feel you. I sometimes wonder too, why my friends cannot seem to remember my body does not do well in certain environments. I guess even they lose sight of our mobility issues, though, when we do not have a clear indicator like a cane to remind them.

That last line is powerful. We have to free ourselves by learning to embrace the new version of ourselves. We will never be who were once were ever again... a hard but important truth to swallow.
