Scammers sure are getting more and more clever. I've had a couple of random texts like this, too, where the person wants to continue a conversation after I let them know they have the wrong number. Your piece reminds me of an article Scott Ryan Abt wrote about almost falling for a scam while trying to sell something on Facebook marketplace. Worth a read.
