Very true. I chose Peru because it had always been a place that interested me, and a big part of my training included excursions to see more of the country and culture. For instance, we got to take a canoe tour through the wetlands one day with local guides who hosted us on their property for a home cooked meal afterward. We also visited a medicinal plant farm run by women only, who told us about each unique plant and its purpose. We joined them for a cultural dance and fruit buffet after. It was a hybrid training, which meant we did 40 hours online before we arrived, and the rest in person. This allowed more time to do things like this, and apart from the YTT. Karma yoga was also a big component of the training. We spent an entire afternoon picking up trash along the river, and another, teaching yoga to young kids in the neighborhood. There were just a lot of things about it that lined up. These aspects, the dates, the length, the rooms, the cost, the optional ayahuasca ceremony. It all made sense and felt right. And today, I'm super happy with my decision.
