You brought me back to my first Bintang beer with this article. Thanks for that. I love this tradition! I barely brought home any souvenirs from Peru, except for some raw cacoa, chocolate, and a few handmade beaded necklaces and bracelets. It was harder than I thought because of the guilt I faced when other people were getting souvenirs for people they love and care about, but it all came down to not participating in more consumerism for me. That, and random gifts are much cooler than forced ones. That, and suitcase space. But I love this perspective on that plastic used to make all the touristy stuff. It's getting out of hand.
