Your Mom Doesn’t Hate You, She’s Just Trying to Help You

And she’s hurting too

It’s true, the people closest to us often underestimate what we need in times of struggle.

There’s a tension our loved ones face when emotions come into play and they’re caught in the middle of what you need and they want.

Mom’s especially, face this tension when they watch the human they carried inside of them and brought to life, hurting.

It’s not easy to put aside your feelings when the pain inflicted on your child feels like a personal attack of what you have and haven’t done right.

There’s an urge to make it all better; The maternal instinct to fix things.

On the flip side, there is a confused child when attempted nurturing starts to feel like judgment, anger, and impatience.

I’ve been there, and based on conversations I’ve had in recent weeks, I know many others have too.

No one is right — both people are hurting
